The Sumatran Rescue Alliance (SRA) is a rescue center for orangutans and other protected primates established in 2020 through a collaboration between the North Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA), the Aceh BKSDA, the Orangutan Information Center (OIC), and the Center for Orangutan Protection (COP), with support from The Orangutan Project.
SRA Location
The Sumatran Rescue Alliance (SRA) is located in Bukit Mas Village, Besitang District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province.
The distance from Medan City to SRA is 117 kilometers, with a travel time of 3 hours.
By 2023, the travel time will be reduced to 45 minutes after the toll road is completed, with a 10-minute ferry crossing added.
