Talking about ecosystem never fails to be wonderful, from the definition that an ecosystem is a system of biotic and abiotic components that functionate together as a unit. From the smallest things, either living and non-living things complete and sync as one. Through #worldsoilday, we are also reminded that a healthy ecosystem is a key to the sustainability of any species on this planet, including human species. Thus, it is important to maintain a healthy ecosystem and human beings by addressing the growing challenges in soil management, especially related to rampant monoculture practice.
Agrochemical as the modern practice is applied everywhere in the world to produce massive production to meet the world needs. However, the damage of exploitation of these chemical use has also brought a huge impact to soil biodiversity. OIC believes to a holistic approach to farming is one of the solutions to any needs for expansion. We trained over 6000 local people to learn permaculture and organic culture in order to sustain their land and to protect the environment as well. Our Bukit Mas Permaculture Centre, one of our permaculture center, is situated next to the Gunung Leuser National Park. We believe that Equipt local farmers with these skills will reduce any need for further expansion that has to compensate for the forest standing.
Through this world soil day, we would like to send a message to all of our #orangutansguardian that once again, protecting #orangutan is also protecting their forest homes and people around the area as well for a better planet of ours. Thus, we can’t do this without your help! We need your help to train more people to learn permaculture and organic farming so they can apply sustainable farming methods without any need for expansion. Kindly need help our team to achieve this goal by donating now if you can!
