This year, OIC is stepping into a big new project. We are excited to announce that OIC will initiate a formal education facility in Bukit Mas, a village adjacent to Gunung Leuser National Park. After having the restoration programme in one of the damaged forests in the National Park area from 2014, with the total area of 30 hectares, OIC expands the programme with the other supporting programmes of education and community development programme. For the first time, OIC finally feels sure to initiate the environment concept of the formal school dedicated to the local people in Bukit Mas, one of the villages adjacent to the national park.

Named with Leuser Nature School or Sekolah Alam Leuser in bahasa (Secondary Level), this school will be a one-of-a-kind school primarily being built using local bamboo. The school will be different from the common conservative schools available around in feature an open-air classroom, library and laboratory. Enterpreneurship, English Club, Field Study and Organic Farming will be some of the unique programs that the school will offer to the children of Bukit Mas.
