23 forest rangers of Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP) and 10 selected local community members from Langkat district join a forest patrol training organised by OIC in collaboration with TFCA Sumatra and GLNP authority. The training, held from 8th to 10th June 2015 in Sei Bingei area, Langkat district, was focused on improving the capacity of forest rangers to manage professional forest patrol activity that involve local community in an effort to help safeguard the Leuser forest from illegal activities such as illegal logging, encroachment and poaching. The trainers for the training include senior staff from various organisations such as Langkat police, Langkat district prosecutor attorney, and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). The Langkat police delivered a comprehensive session on investigation for forest crime while the Prosecutor Attorney of Langkat district gave session on guideline to develop forest crime evidence to be followed up at the court.
