On 15 April 2014, our HOCRU team rescued a male orangutan isolated in a rubber plantation mixed with oil palm plantation in Litur village, Langkat district, North Sumatra. The orangutan, estimated 15 years old, is now in SOCP quarantine before we will release soon to a new forest home, a second chance of life for the orangutan. Our HOCRU team is continuously roving through the farmlands adjacent to orangutan habitat, surveying for potential conflict areas and responding to any instances encountered or reported through our conflict SMS centre.
