A Female Orangutan Rescued from Oil Palm Plantation by HOCRU team A female orangutan that was isolated in oil palm plantation in Bukit Village in Aceh Tamiang was rescued by our HOCRU team together with BKSDA Aceh and Forum Konservasi Leuser (FKL) last weekend (14 June 2014). Our rescue team managed to tranquilize the orangutan, estimated to be 12 years old, and bring down safely to the net without any injuries. Then around mid day, after thorough health check, the orangutan was translocated back in to protected forest of the Leuser Ecosystem in Aceh Tamiang.
